To be a prefect your character must be a 5th year or higher. This means that your character must be nearing readiness to take the O.W.L.S. and move up in rank or have already taken the O.W.L.S. and moved up to N.E.W.T. Level.

Prefects have both an IC and OOC responsibility. IC they are a target for student pranks and must try to keep the other students inline to some degree, as prefects would be expected to in the books. OOC Prefects will moderate the boards to ensure everyone is following the rules as well as assist new members in settling in to the community.
